Use the 90-Day Body Transformation Challenge to reinforce your team's retention culture

Attrition costs way too much. How much time does it take to make an occasional phone call with no agenda but to reach out to someone you recruited a few months ago who hasn't ordered in awhile? A simple invitation to join in your 90-Day Body Transformation Challenge can pay off in a major way in improving your team retention.

Once you've built a team, how do you spend your important phone time? If you were to spend an hour working on prospecting or an hour working on retention, which would be the most productive use of your time? Retention is an extremely efficient use of your time. And the 90-Day Challenge gives you an excellent opportunity to get everyone in your team in the habit of thinking constantly about retention.

In most companies only 20% of the people who are excited about being recruited today will still be active a year from now. While Xyngular®'s retention statistics are much better than the abysmal industry average, we can all do better at keeping our people excited and active. All we need to do is schedule a little time for retention calls, exciting texts, messages on email, or posts on Facebook. They really pay off.

People fall out of activity for 5 basic reasons: (1) poor communications, (2) lack of training, (3) unmet expectations, (4) poor service by the company and the upline, and (5) life changes. Of all these reasons for leaving, only 15% leave because of life changes beyond our control. The other 85% are very much in the control of the company and the upline.
Statistically as many as half of the people who drop out do so in the first 90 days. That's exactly the length of the 90-Day Body Transformation. If we can simply stay in touch better during the first quarter of the year and every 90-day period thereafter, we'll be in the habit of supporting each other better, managing expectations, and identifying all the different ways we can retain those we recruit.

The 90-Day Challenge gives us the opportunity to do something really special for every person who joins the team. You'll want to plan 3-way calls, special team conference calls, shout-out text messages, and fun celebrations during that first 90 days. You'll also want to plan "calling trees" by team members checking in on each other to see how the weight loss is going and answering any questions.

What would happen if everyone on your team received several calls like the following in their first week or two in the business? "Hey, I just wanted to call and say we're glad you're on our team and offer help with anything that may come up as you lose weight or build your business." Industry studies show that just one extra call like that within the first 72 hours can translate into 40% who would have dropped out who actually stay. Is a simple call worth the effort? You bet.
Even an answering machine voice mail message works. A simple reminder call to get on the conference calls means a huge increase in retention. These important calls don't have to bring more money into the pipeline every time. Just calling for no particular reason but to show you care improves retention tremendously.

How often can you communicate without annoying your team members? Once they're trained, a weekly call is a great rule of thumb.

Another important part of retention is managing expectations. Speak the truth about what to expect in weight loss and business growth over time. Tell them straight exactly what they need to do to get consistent results. You build trust and strong belief with honest advice.

ACTION STEPS:
1. Get out your planner and schedule time every day for a few retention calls. Make them fun, exciting, and brief. Schedule them with every member of your team on a regular basis, hopefully weekly.

2. Keep track of retention in your team. Measure it just as you would recruiting or your commission checks. It will pay off.

3. Force yourself to make a list of 25 creative ways you and your team are going to use the 90-Day Body Transformation Challenge to make retention a consistent team habit.

90-Day Body Transformation Challenge Commitment #3: I will shop smart

We all have healthy food choices at convenient, local markets...fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, lean meats, legumes, nuts, and seeds. With Jim Ayres shopping list and meal plans, it's easy to plan ahead and make it to the checkout stand without empty impulse items full of unhealthy fat, sugar, starch, and salt. Here's how to navigate the store.

Shop the perimeter. Most markets layouts have meats, produce, and dairy around the edges of the store. Most processed, empty foods are located in the center and next the checkout. You're looking for foods that are nearest to the way they looked when they came out of the ground. The whole grains are about the only thing you need to look for in the center parts of the store.

Stay loyal to the same store(s). Once you're familiar with the layout, you'll shop more quickly and avoid temptations more easily.

Make a list. Use Jim's suggested list, then avoid picking up items not on your list. If you have impulse items around the house and you ever miss a snack or a meal, your cravings will kick in. And those foodless foods will jump out at you. If you're buying treats for other family members, store them out of sight.

Avoid shopping when you're hungry. You know what happens. Everything not on your list looks extra tempting...especially the empty, sugary, salty, fatty things. Advertisers and marketers have programmed us to go straight to the treats whenever our body chemicals signal hunger.

Check the labels. Don't be fooled by label that says "fat-free," "lite," or "low-fat." When you check ingredients, you'll see unpronounceable ingredients that can sabotage the shopper who doesn't check. If some form of sugar is one of the first two ingredients, that's a clue that it's unhealthy.

In addition to ingredients, check Nutrition Facts for percentage of calories from fat (you want it low), trans fat (you don't want any), protein and carbs (you want them as close to each other as possible in a meal or snack), sodium (you want it to be a small percentage of the suggested daily value), and fiber (you want it high...between 25 and 40g/day).
You only have to check the labels once to identify the healthiest brand. It will set you up for quicker shopping from then on. Check the labels of foods you have at home and decide which ones to switch for a more healthy choice.

Enjoy both fresh and frozen. Buy fresh in season as much as you can. Frozen fruits and vegetables are frozen at peak harvest time so their nutritional value could actually be better than fresh produce that has been in shipping and warehouses for awhile.

Get to know your butcher. Ask for what's fresh that day. A fresh cut will taste better with less seasoning (sodium).
